Thursday Travel Tails - Idaho

Howdy and Happy Travel Tails Thursday!!
Today I, Dory, am back to tell you about our travels through Idaho!!

The most funnest and most important thing Arty and I did while in Idaho was stop by to see our Sweethearts, along with Hazel, at the Idaho Pug Ranch!! We had the bestest time EVER!!
If you didn't get a chance to read about our visit, make sure to click
to read all about it!!!

Today, we are going to let you know about the rest of our day in Idaho!
The rest areas in Idaho are bunches like those in the Midwest!

They had beautimous scenery and trails for us to walkies on.

...and even rocks for us to climb on!!!

Arty wasn't as fond of the rocks as I was...

He did like the trails though!!!
He "said" he saw some prairie dogs..but I told him they were probably just ground squirrels.

Mama here: These were some of the nicest rest areas of the trip (we stopped at two separate rest areas). They had full trail "parks" at both, and we took full advantage of them. The human facilities were both enclosed, making them comfortable both in hot and cold weather! Both California and Texas could learn a thing or two from Idaho Rest Areas!!

We loved looking out the window in Idaho..Mama kept saying how it was a "transition state" as we drove from the plateaus and ranges of Cowboy Country into the more mountainous regions of Oregon!

All we knew was Mabel and Mr. Bailey said that they knew for a fact Idaho grows FRENCH FRIES under their dirt!!!

Yep...just look at all those French Fry plants waiting to be harvested and fried up, NOMMY!!!

But we are getting off topic, aren't we??

We also saw  Wind Farms

We followed the Oregon Trail. The early Pioneer Doggies traveled along the very same trail!!

We saw the Snake River...which, we are happy to report, does not have any snakes around it!!

We didn't get to the hotel until early evening, so we didn't have bunches of time to explore. But it was a very nice place!

We took short walk around the grounds and were very impressed with the individual picnic areas and grills!!

The bed was totally comfy and after our long day in Idaho we fell asleep right after we finished our evening constitutional!
Mama here: the Idaho LQ (in Caldwell) was one where, although it hadn't been updated, I would visit again. It was very rustic and had a real "Wild West" feel.  Between the picnic areas with grills and the mesquite wood furniture, I felt like I had slipped back in time a few years!

We woke up VERY early the next morning and took
Mama outside to see the sunrise before hitting the road into Oregon!!

We all really enjoyed Idaho and were sad to leave!!
We are definitely going to see if Daddy will come with us next time we visit!!

We are winding down our Thursday Travel Tails for 2016. Join us next week as we wrap up this season with the last leg of our BAR travel through Oregon!!

I was expecting to see lots of potatoes, but didn't see any. Looks like a pretty western/farming state. One day I need to visit I think.

I have not been through Idaho, but daddy used to grow potatoes and I can attest to their are no better fries than the ones made with fresh Idaho potatoes even if they were grown in Kentucky. what beautiful rest areas and I can see you both LOVED the beds

Mom and Dad have never been to Idaho, but it sure looks like a great state to visit. The best part would definitely be spending time with those very special pugs.

Wow, so they grow wind in Idaho, too? Who knew?!?
I've never been to Idaho, but I like the B52s song "Private Idaho". In fact, Mom's got it stuck in her head now!
Mmmm.... French Fry plants! Now THAT is awesome!

What a fun time you had! Those rest areas sound fabulous. I once did a 10 day bike race in Idaho, and I've always wanted to go back. Your photos confirmed it. And I loved seeing both of you on the boulders!

What a pawsome trip!!! Yeah, the drought has really done away with the grassy rest areas in CA and the SW. Maybe someday that can change. I hopes so. Nothing beats the cool grass under your feeties to do your business!
Thanks for the tour guys!!! Glads you had a safe trip
